What Is a Certificate of Insurance (COI)?
What a COI shows, what it does not do and why contractors are frequently asked to provide one.
A certificate of insurance is a summary document that provides evidence of existing insurance at a particular point in time. It does not replace the policy, change coverage or create rights beyond the policy terms. Contract requirements should be reviewed before certificates or endorsements are requested.
